These are compatible with strap-on crampons (ex., Black Diamond Contact Strap crampons). They do not have the heel and/or toe bails required for use with automatic (or semi-auto) crampons. The lip on the back of this boot might look like a heel bail for crampons but it is actually designed to keep the heel strap of a snowshoe from sliding down the back of your foot during snowshoeing. (It's far too high on the heel to work as a heel bail for crampons.)
