I need a tent that is rain proof. I want to stay dry in the rain? Is this the tent for us?

No, this probably won't work. Rain rarely falls straight down, and this rainfly is kind of like an umbrella - it only covers the top part of the tent. Look for a tent that the rainfly extends all the way to the bottom of the tent. I saw some Marmot family size tents that have large rain flys like that.
