I haven't contacted cloudveil about this yet, but I was wondering if anyone has had experience with their warranties. I love this jacket and have owned it for just about one year. But unfortunately the zipper is already falling apart. You zip it up and its becoming more frequent that the zipper splits open. Does anyone know if this is something the warranty would cover? I would have assumed a jacket that carries this kind of price tag would last me quite a bit longer than a year.

So this was kind of a question and possibly a forewarning as well. I loved pretty much everything about the jacket up until now. It was very warm for a shell, and I loved the gore-tex softshell material as it broke in very nicely and was a great waterproof shell. Durability seems to be a problem however.

Had the same prob with my two year old RPK- Zipper busted towards the top (around the neck I guess)- I had also put a huge rip in the right arm about a year prior to this- Figured Id get them both repaired at the same time- Called Cloudveil, talked to a girl who gave me a claim number...no questions asked, sent the jacket off and the repair took about two and a half weeks (w/ shipping it was about a month round trip which is really rough in the middle of a season!)- Cloudveil paid for the zipper and I paid for the patch (since I made the hole)- Repair work cost me about $40 and it looks excellent (same company mentioned above- Rainy Pass Repair)- I had quite the opposite experience as the first guy here- The hardest part of this whole thing was getting to the UPS store- Durability is not a problem Jay- In fact, this is some of the most durable ski gear Ive found- Got a pair of Cloudveil 4 Pines Pants with over 400 days on them and they barely look worn I swear! Hope that works out for ya-

I have an RPK jacket and have had the same exact problem with the zipper. I emailed cloudveil and after many back and forth emails they agreed to repair it. They made me mail it to Rainy Pass Repair in Seattle, who repairs the zipper and sends the bill to Cloudveil. The velcro tab on the sleeve was peeling off as well, and I explained this to them and even sent them pictures about it, but they refused to repair the problem, they would only repair the zipper. I ended up using some gore tex repair glue on my $450.00 jacket. I have met about 5 other RPK owners on the lifts that have the exact same problem with the sleeves. The whole zipper repair process took about a month round trip. Now, 2 years later the zipper occasionally unzips from the bottom... again. The back is very pilly from wearing a pack while skiing, I had to stop wearing a pack so I can get at least one more year out of this jacket. Overall, I was very disapointed with the cloudveil customer service, their refusal to fix an obvious defect and poor craftsmanship issue with the sleeve, and the amount of time it took me just to get them to repair one of the problems. I will not be buying any cloudveil products again and I warn everybody about them. For the amount of money they charge for there porducts, they should stand behind them.

Don't know specifically, but I have had to contact their customer service and it was quite refreshing. A person answered the phone, no phone tree to work through, were helpful and took care of my question, set up a return and sent a new item out no hassle. Really seem like a company that would figure out a solution for you. I have a few of their jackets, though not the RPK, and haven't seen quality issues like that, hopefully an anomaly.
