How does this compare to the mhw alchemy in terms of warmth? Both are soft shells but which one is going to keep me warmer. I currently have the alchemy and although it's a great versatile jacket, it's not doing much to keep me warm, especially in the evenings. I don't want to have to lug my mhw downhill down jacket everywhere, looking for a wind/water resist/proof jacket that has some insulation (not just a thin fleece liner). I want a jacket w/ a tech shell and insulation, something that'll keep me warm.

The Alchemy is warmer, the Alchemy is basically the wind stopper tech jacket with a stretchy shell on the outside. I own both and they are both great jackets…Now with this said, they are technical jackets. I don’t know how much warmth you need because I wear my Alchemy jacket while hiking around in -5 degree temperature, and found that the one thing the jacket was missing was ventilation to let out more heat. I can see how if you are out and about the town, the jacket could get very cold, but when climbing and hiking, I say the jacket is too warm.

it'll probably be about the same warmth as the alchemy. its not as water resistant either. it can be worn on its own on warmer days but i use it as a layer much more often in the winter
