My son lives in Fairbanks, Alaska and wants Smartwool mini socks. All the reviews I've read say they are for warm summer weather. Does Smartwool make a mini (ankle high) sock for winter?

Both these and the PHD Outdoor Light would be fine for summers in Fairbanks.

Actually they do make a heavier low cut socks because I own a pair. They are called the Smartwool Hike Medium Mini Crew socks. I'm not sure how well it would do for Alaska weather but mine do pretty well for winters in Western NC.

I don't think they make what you're looking for. Having a thick, warm sock with exposed ankles is kind of self-defeating.
