Can you change the batteries yourself or is this like Polar where you have to have it operated on and it costs a fortune for a battery change. Thanks. Peter

Just be very careful with the seal when you put back the cover piece. Otherwise, it could compromise the waterproofness of the watch. But yes, on this topic, Suunto is definitely way better than Polar, you can perform the change of battery in less than 1 minute. Possible to do it with a quarter coin, but better to use the small dedicated tool.

Suunto (and just about every other HR monitor maker) capitalized on the fact that Polar charged an arm and a leg to replace a battery and decided to design their products so users could replace them. This model has user replaceable batteries in both the wristop computer and the chest strap.
