actually that might not be true, gortex can often keep you wet because it does not realy work as advertised. Gortex simplly does not breath, it is a neat concept,,,,but rarely works in practice. Short of a down poor, softshells should keep you pretty dry if you are active. if you are a cop standing in the rain, get gortex.

Check out the sizing chart. Looks like your a small in one measurement(Waist) but an XL in the other(inseam). do you want them loose or too short?
