Yes, this is water resistant to 100meters/330 feet. The heart rate belt is water resistant to 20M/66ft; however does not transmit your HR under water.

Under certain conditions, such as when in the water, the Suunto Heart Rate Monitor does not transmit to your Suunto t-Series wristop training computer. Suunto proposes the Memory Belt to collects accurate heart rate data without the wrist unit when you're swimming, or under extreme conditions where data won't transmit properly. The wireless heart rate transmitter can also record up to 24 hours of beat-to-beat heart rate information on an memory chip for later downloads and analysis.

Suunto says it's water resistant to about 300 ft, so it should do the trick for triathlon training and situations where you're not diving.
