Is there a reason this pack weighs 1lb 6oz., while most other fanny packs are 4-9oz.? Looking for a gift for a ultra-light backpacker.

Its actually just 6oz. You could get your friend this or a silicon nylon tarp or an alcohol stove. The stoves can be made your self from a soda can or you can buy one off a couple guys on ebay for like $7. I've had one for years that still works great. Fantastic cheap gift.
