My husband wants a bag that is big enough to hold his boots and helmet as well as that of my 7 year old daughter. Would this bag fit the bill?

Agree. Bag could handle adult boots in bottom compartment, and both helmets in upper. Kids' boots in upper would be a real stretch, probably not possible. If you do put helmets in, you'll definitely need to check this as checked baggage on the airlines. Won't fit in the overhead. I, for one, carry my boots as carry-on only. They're the most important gear in the locker.

So all you want to hold is an adult helmet and boots and a childs helmet and boots? If so it would be a tight fit, but would work. If you want it to hold adult boots and an adult helmet and childs helmet then it would definitely work. The bag is surprisingly big.
