Very old question but this would work. You may also want to look at the Merino Wool products like SmartWool.

I would say yes, it is. I use it mainly for snowboarding which, as you probably know can be very physically demanding and it regulates my temperature very well. One note is that it is not a compression fit it is, as UA refers to it, "fitted" meaning its not loose like a Tee but isn't super tight either. Bottom line I think it would be great for working outside in the winter!
