Does anyone know how well this jacket compresses (how small it shrinks down to)? I backpack a lot and am in need of a new layer that doesn't take up a lot of space in a backpack.

Just a second....Well, it looks about 2 to 2.5 litres when compressed. Yes, I did just take it off and smoosh it in my arms.

I have the pullover too, and it may not shrink a ton, but it doesn't take up a lot of room. If it's in a compression sack or your pack has heavy stuff in it, it's not nearly as bulky as say a Denali. Also it makes a great pillow for backpacking

I've got the pullover version and it doesn't pack down too much...maybe a little bit more than a "typical" fleece, but not much more than that. Try the patagonia nano puff - probably equal warmth (but the Nano blocks wind so much better than this) and more compressible.
