Shocking as this may be, I am a little confused... Is this a hardshell or a soft shell? One of the other reviews claims this is more soft shell than hard shell, but it is not in the soft shell section of the site.

I'm 6-2 185# and the L is too small with just a fleece vest on, I returned it. Nice looking jacket and I'll see if the XL will fit.

the jacket has some stretch like a soft shell, and it isnt a super rough texture like some hard shells, in that respect it is like a soft shell. having said that, the performance is well beyond what any soft shell offers for protection from the elements. fully welded seams, 20k waterproof rating, and 15k breathable rating make it a very tech piece, capable of fending off rain, any most any snow you will encounter

Its a really breathable hardshell. The breathable part and the stretch give it the soft shell like characteristics.
