I live in Salt Lake City and I am planning on buying a down jacket. Will this be too warm for everyday use in Salt Lake?

I live in Salt Lake city and think this jacket would be fine. If you're headed up into the high mountains where it's much colder than the valley (usually), you may want a thicker down coat like the TNF Nuptse

Is the Thunder Down better or the Elysium Down? The Thunder Down is 800-fill while the Elysium Down is only 700. But how come the Elysium costs more? Thanks,
