What about for a ski jacket? Is it true to size and if layering do you need to size up?

Dave, ACTUALLY, according to backcountry's specifications this jacket has 120G of insulation while TNF MODULATION jacket has only 60G and, BOTH jacket come with a snow skirt.

If you do go with this jacket, I'd recommend sizing up for layering. That's what I do (I like to be able to wear a hoodie or sweater underneath coats and jackets) and the fit was exactly what I wanted.

Hi Paula - I would recommend checking out The North Face Modulation Jacket - it is very similar to the Insulated Varius Guide - both waterproof, same amount of insulation, similar price- but the Modulation has more ski specific features like a snow skirt and interior pockets for goggles etc. - Similar jackets, but the Modulation was designed as a more ski friendly piece.
