Will this windshirt stop mosquitoes from biting the way my nylon pants do? (i.e. the little buggers can't puncture the nylon with their proboscis.) Ideally I'd like to wear this while I'm backpacking on a sunny day--say, in the 70's. Perhaps a mesh backed shirt would work?

It will. The bugs won't be able to get through this thing. It breathes well enough in the heat. For hiking during the day in bug country, I prefer something like the Mtn Hardwear Canyon shirt.
