Can you use this bag as a carry on for the plane? If not any recommendations? I don't trust my boots to the luggage handlers at the airlines.

I've taken this bag on planes many times. Just don't pack the top compartment too full, and it's best to pack some clothes in the top because you usually have to squish it down a bit to fit in the overhead on the plane.

Not sure about all airlines.....but if you are checking skis with Continental they consider the boot bag to part of your ski bag, and charge just one fee for both. Your planks will take far more of a beating getting checked then your boots so if your checking skis/boards i'd just throw the boots below and not have to lug them around...just my 2 cents.

Fully packed this would a little big to fit as a carry on. If you don't pack the top compartment you will be fine.

My girlfriend uses one for that, she keeps a bunch of her gear in there. Definitely will work for flight travel. Personally I just strap my boots together and do it that way as a carry on.
