i have a question about length. Is this a short jacket? Does this jacket fit normal? I am debating either this or the Norrona?
edit: so this would not be good as a stand alone jacket in the lower eastern Sierras? i don't want it to be too short and wind is always creepin up into it...

My Arc'teryx Solo hits just below the waist on my pants, so I consider it to be a short jacket. It's designed to work as a layer, so the length is cut this way so as not to hang out from your shell. One consideration in comparing; the Therma-Tek is an Arc'teryx exclusive fabric- water-repellent treated Primaloft. It's basically waterproof in that it will not absorb moisture, and the loft is extra resilient due to this treatment.
