I have a cats meow sleeping bag that I bought in 2000. Would this be the same rating regardless of when it was brought.
I will be hiking the App trail in April/may of ext year. Is this the right choice for the season.

If you've kept the sleeping bag clean, and washed it, correctly, occasionally, it should be just as warm.

I have a North Face Chamois that I purchased in 1986 & it is as warm today as it was when I procured it. As long as you take good care of your sleeping bag & have it cleaned when necessary, depending on usage, once every two years should be fine. This is a good sleeping bag for your impending Appalachian Trail venture.
