I would like some opinions; how does these compare to the black diamond gaiters for general backcountry usage? which would be better suited?

Both Mountain Hardwear and Black Diamond make great gaiters that would work perfectly for general backcountry usage. I am obviously biased one way... but, if you want more specific comparisons between products more info and product names would really help. Also specific info regarding how you are going to use them would help a lot as well. One cool thing about our gaiters is that we have simplified the strap/buckle inter-face by getting rid of the post in the buckle and strap holes on the straps themselves making a relatively unbreakable system... pretty cool and unique to Mountain Hardwear. Hope this helps!
