I am looking for a very light weight glove that will only be used to keep the sun off my hands while hiking in the desert. Will these be to heavy for that?

while I can't comment on these specific gloves, I've used the UnderArmor liner gloves (the guys around 40$) for years - in everything from running, to snowboarding, to around town. They also "fit like a glove" which is exactly what you want with light gloves.
