Hi Beth, I am going to disagree with Canadian Chica on this one and suggest that you go with the medium in this jacket.

I find North Face jackets fit larger. I am 5'8" and 155 pounds, I wear a medium in their jackets, you would probably find a medium to be bulky in the midsection. I would suggest you get a small in The North Face outerwear, unless you are planning for some serious layers to fit underneath.
