Abby- I always suggest to my customers to wash their fleece and other gear pieces that have a performance factor to them (wicking, fleece, thermal, etc.) using a powdered detergent. Liquid soaps are petroleum based, and tend to leave a residue behind ultimately leading to your jacket losing it's compression and pilling fleece. After washing, tumble-dry low to bring the water slowly out of it without boiling over the fleece. Imagine sticking a hair dryer on your head for an hour; it would frizz out too. Good luck!
