i'm about 5'6" and i usually wear smalls in jackets.....

i'm about 5'6" and i usually wear smalls in jackets.. so i was wondering if this jacket runs small or big. if i got a small would i comfortably be able to wear a sweatshirt or layer underneath?

i ended up getting the small and it fits great!! there's plenty of room for me to layer up when it's cooler out.

Hi Helen- This jacket is a performance fit, so compared to other North Face jackets I would say that this jacket fits trim. If you were going to use it a warmer weather shell without layers, I think the small would be the way to go, but if you are looking for a little room to layer I would bump up to the medium. Hope this helps-
