I have an older version of the black redpoint jacket. If you look close, it has a greyish "grid" pattern on top of the black color...do the newer versions have this, or is the black more of a "solid" black color?

I think I know the jacket that you are talking about - it was a special edition version from about 5-6 years ago. The current fabric is a ripstop, so you can see a grid if you look very close, but it is not visible like it is on the jacket that you have. Hope this helps-
