It isn't- it is a nylon shell with synthetic insulation in it. I think it is a really nice upgrade from a fleece jacket- it is warmer, better wind resistance, and more water resistant with a DWR finish. All of these are nice bonus features if the liner jacket is worn on it's own. I also like the way these liner jackets slide in and out of the shell- they are much easier to get in and out than fleece liners. Hope this helps.
