So... these boots look really nice and everything, but why are they $450??? Is there something special about them that I can't see from the description?

This is the high end (fashionable) version of a sorel winter boot. You can get sorels for about 110 that aren't as "cool" looking but are still pretty awesome. Since they have started making them in China I have noticed reviews saying that the waterproofing isn't as good. I love this boot, and it used to be 450 not 250, so if you have the money, thats a great deal. If not, buy the more reasonably priced ones. The Reserves are for richies

Yes they make liners, but not the fine shearling that you pay for when you get this boot. They do not support this high end product, you will only be able to get a liner that they make for their other boots, which is not wool and shearling.

Hi all, Its true they are made of Bison Leather and the leather itself is not $450 expensive. The process to waterproof and insulate to -25 degrees in pricey. The top of the boot is made of fine shearling. If you are familiar with Uggs, really good shearling is expensive. The entire boot is seam sealed and waterproof. Bison leather is very strong and is excellent material for winter conditions. The rubber toe has 2.5mm of felt that works as a frost plug to keep your toes warm. The boot contains a Poron footbed; Pocron is a footbed material that molds to your feet, it contains a low compression component that makes for amazing shock absorption. Every year Sorel makes a high end boot with a limited offering. We have sold out every year and have gone through more than half of our inventory already! Its true these are some pricey boots, but they will last and the leather will look better with time. Sorel makes removable liners so you can get your money's worth!

they must come with a bison. it's actually because sorel made limited quantities of this boot ( for really rich people who have huge driveways and pay people to shovel them)

Sorry, but I work with leather, and bison leather isn't THAT expensive. I think these will sit on your invatory shelves for a long time.

It is the bison leather that makes it the cost that it is.
