I cant find this jacket in stores anywhere but I am looking for a rain jacket for a thru hike of the AT. I am looking at this jacket and the Marmot Oracle- any reason to pick this one over the Oracle or REI Ultra Light Rain Jacket?

All of the reviewers hit it on the head, with one exception. If you're planning on using this for a thru hike of the AT, bring a roll of duct tape. While the jacket is extremely waterproof, it isn't very durable. Things like pine cones, thorny bushes and other things of the like that you'll find in the wilderness won't be very kind to this jacket. I speak from personal experience having used it to hike along the AT.

Kevin. Why pick this one over the others? A couple differences... this is one of the first stretch, welded, and waterproof shells on the market... and at 10oz the weight it hard to beat. Also, due to our patented 'Z-weld', tape is NOT needed to make the jacket waterproof. I hope all this info helps!

Check out TNF triumph anorak. 5.5 oz. for a shell. No frills at all. But, for the weight, it was perfect. I use it on my ultralight backpacking trips, and on a thru-hike of the Long Trail.

Personally I like the Marmot PreCip or Patagonia Rain Shadow. They are very similar, but a little bit lighter than this jacket. They are very basic, no frills jackets.
