I've never had a down coat and after reading a lot of reviews, some have explained that the quilted stitching keeps the down from moving downward over time. This coat doesn't have that quilted design, so is downward movement of the down going to be a problem? And does the black have white stitching like the nightsky blue?

This jacket is constructed a little differently than your traditional "puffy" down jacket. It still has baffles that keep the down from shifting around- they just don't go through the the exterior face fabric. Yes - the black does have contrast stitching.
