Will this bag in 170cm length hold 170cm skis or would the bag need to be 190cm?

The 170s will most likely fit. There is usually a tiny bit of extra room. With that being said though, it is nice to go a size up to fit some extra gear when travelling, like your helmet, goggles, etc. 170 should work for 170 skis though.

I have a 185cm bag from Dakine that fits my 185s just fine. so i would say if you are skiing 170 then get the 170. however, if there is a chance you will get a bigger ski in the future then buy up. you can always pack extra stuff in your ski bag.
