Are there any difference between the 2009 model and the 2008 model? My friend has a 2008 one and I like it. I just want to know before commiting to the purchase.

yes, there are differences. i like the newer model (of the Atmos...male version) better than the old model basedon what I saw in the store (mostly frame changes). Call Osprey...they were very helpful in explaining everything that they changed.
