If it works for Karl Meltzer (plus read his review at the top!)...I'm pretty sure it will be what you want...& I feel the weight isn't an issue because it's balanced well (it's not heavy up front only for example); the battery pack is in back & the lamp is obviously in front...the balanced weight makes it feel perfect in my opinion (& it will only make your neck stronger!).

It might be a little heavier than you would want, it's a little more than double the weight of the Petzl Tikka. Ultimately, it depends on the amount of light you need, and what kind of weight you're willing to put up with to get it.
