Write your question here...I am 5'11", weigh 170 lbs. and ski about 30 days a year in Colorado. I mix the front steep and bumps with the back side trees and any powder that I can find. Would you recommend this in 170 or 177 for me? Thanks

I'm 6'0, 175 and I have the 2009 in 190. They are all they are hyped up to be. I have a SKI TRACK APP and have hit 60 mph on a steep groomer and they are very stable. However they do get a bit chewed up on the topsheets carving hard. The 190's take a few runs to get used to but if you like stability go bigger, you will learn to master any size you get.

I'm 5"11" 150 and ski the Mantra in 170cm length. 7cm won't make any difference whatsoever in deep snow. If you are adept in powder, you are adept in powder. The length of the ski won't make you float better. Now, 7cm will make a difference in tight terrain (bumps, trees) etc. I skied these boards in deep snow, trees, bumps, chop, over logs, you name it and at 170cm ... I couldn't have asked for more. 14cm will make a huge difference in terms of the effort you have to exert to force the ski to do what you want. Going shorter is NOT going to detract from performance, but going too long will. If you have the technique, shorter lengths will allow you to ride far longer and exert less effort. Volkl traditionally makes very stiff skis. You need to be aggressive to ride them to their potential. The difference is that if you ride them too long, you can rest assured your shins will be feeling the bang within a few hours. I skied hard for four days on the 170's before I started to feel pressure on my shins. It's your decision, just don't buy into this "longer skis make you float better" crap ... were talking centimeters here, not inches.

184's - I am your exact size and the 177's won't be long enough in the deep.

I'm and advanced skier and was out 39 times last season. I bought some Mantras last spring (to compliment my Volkl AC4's also in 170) in the 170. I'm 5' 10" and 195 and ski mostly at Mt. Baker Washington. These skis are great for all of the mountain. I carry a GPS so I know they are great at 45+mph on groomers, great in 12/18" of powder (probably not as light as Colorado powder) and fast and quick thru the trees. I put Marker Griffons on them and am really pleased with the setup.
