I'm on SAR (Search and Rescue) would this work as a good all-around helmet for mountain and river rescues, so basically could it get along in a river and drain ok?

Absolutely. This would be a fantastic helmet for something like that. Classes and SAR teams all over the world use these specifically for that reason.
