Does anyone know if the battery will last a year from when you buy it or is that 1 year battery life mean from when they made it because I cant afford to have it go dead while Im on the trail

Battery life is about a year from installation of new battery. It depends how much you use the energy intensive features like the compass and the altimeter though. The more often they are used, the less battery you'd have. The watch does have a battery guage on it though so you can moniter the charge.. Beter late than never!
