Is this strong, and effective at digging?

Is it one piece or two (does the shovel and handle disconnect?) and what is the strength of the connection between blade and handle if it does seperate?

I have used my shovel in coastal and cascade snow for a couple years now it is like shoveling cement sometimes and this shovel has held up well! The stregth in the conection is good and yes you can seperate the blade from the handle.
