Write your question here...Is the outer shell treated to be water resistant or water proof at all?

No it's not treated to be water proof, but the material is slightly water resistant. I wore it out in the Black Hills when it was misty out, and it did just fine. I'd hesitate to try it in a shower or gentle rain though.
