The best way that I can see is to use two carabiners and hook them through the ropes that run down the sides and attacth them to loops or straps on your pack

I would not advise you keep it full when hiking because there is no good way to attach it. Normally I just keep it rolled up then pump my filter then tie it to a tree at night at camp to cook and fill up bottles then empty in the morning.
