This pack would work great for that, but it doesn't have a ton of padding for carrying heavy loads. This makes the pack better for stripping down. I carried the Naos on a recent trip up the Grand Teton, and it was great, from the approach with lots of weight, to the summit with ropes and clothes. The fabric is super tough and totally waterproof on either pack.
