This seems to be rated high, and lots of comments on warmth. I'm looking for a good jacket to take with me to Russia this winter (and I'm from California...) and looking into this jacket, along with layers and of course some food thermals. This truly good for warmth?

yes, you will be warm...but why pay $600 for an all mountain jacket with all of the ski features when you would be equally warm in just a $200 down jacket--like a TNF Nuptse or Patagonia Down Jacket.

The Primo Down Jacket is one of the warmest jackets out there that also offers a fully wind/waterproof and breathable shell. I've worn my Primo Down in some really cold and nasty conditions, and it keeps me warmer than any other jacket I've worn. If you were to layer a Patagonia Merino 3 Zip Neck and a either a Patagonia R1 or R2 Jacket under this you would be very, very warm.
