Children MUST use a full body harness like the Petzl Simba because of the risk of the child turning over and falling out of a waist-only harness. The minimum age a child could use a waist-only harness is probably about age 6 or 7. (Children are naturally top heavy since their heads develop faster than their bodies. Coupled with the lack of hips on small kids, this is a recipe to turn over and fall out with a waist-only harness.)
