I'd consider them specialty lenses for bright, bright days. Not a good choice for very overcast days or flat light AT ALL, so be aware of that.

I would say they are definitely for bright sunny days. They only allow 12% light through and are one of the darker lenses they have. These are a great pick for you "bright, sunny bluebird day."

They are pretty much for your average day of skiing, so they can handle sunny, and up to complete overcast admirably.
