It's a bit long for hiking and is intended more as an around town rain coat. If you are looking for a longer jacket for hiking you might check out the Marmot Skyline Jacket. It's 30" center back vs 37.5" for the Destination and this year's model is made from the highly breathable membrain strata fabric.
