Is this shoe water resistant? I want to go with something other than gore-tex for the heat factor. But need something water resistant enough to keep out heavy dew. I am thinking of this or the La Sportiva. Any comments on the water resistant would be appreciated. How does the fit of the Cross compare to the ultra pro 3d?

I've been using these this winter, they are not waterproof but I wear thin wool running socks and even down into the 20s my feet stay warm. Wool breathes but will still hold in warmth even when wet. I also did not get the goretex lined SC2 for the same reasons as Jean-Yves and do not regret it.

there's a DWR treatment on the SpeedCross which keeps away the water better than mesh. But it's efficiency is very limited. OK for a little bit of dew, but not OK for very wet conditions. You won't find anything protective for heavy dew besides a shoe with Gore-tex membrane, but you'll have the downsides of it, which means less breathable than a no membraned shoe> The good thing with the SpeedCross though is the fact the ripstop materiel we use for the shoe isn't getting extra weight when wet compared to mesh.
