Yes, it is water resistant like a nylon-based backpack would be. There are also flaps that go over the zippers that help to resist water leaks, too. I have had no problems with water getting in the bag after being in the rain for a short time. It would be good enough to walk from the parking lot into work, but you may want to do a water-proofing treatment or a packcover if you are looking to bike 5 miles into work in the pouring rain.
