The Varius Guide Jacket will repel water almost completely and keep you much dryer/warmer in snow or rain conditions. The Apex Bionic Hooded Jacket will most likely cinch closer to your body than the varius guide jacket, keeping wind and cold from intruding as much. Ultimately, like with most gear, it just depends on the situations in which you plan on using them in.
