Why does this weigh twice as much as the comparable marmot/driclime ion windshirt?

It does not. My Marmot Driclime weighs 13oz and my Patagonia alpine wind jacket weighs 10.5oz. You must be comparing the weight of the Marmot Ion to the Patagonia alpine wind jacket and they are totally different jackets. The Patagonia Houdini is similar to the Ion and is lighter at 3.7oz. Both Patagonia jackets are far superior than there Marmot counterparts.

The Patagonia Alpine Wind jacket has a light lining, so it will be warmer than the Marmot Ion. The Marmot Ion is most similar to the Patagonia Houdini, but the Houdini is about 15% lighter and packs to a smaller size, for about double the price...
