i am not familiar with the us sizing charts and i was wondering if size L would fit.

i am 180 cm tall
my weight is about 98 kg

in suits i wear size 52.

So you are 5'9" and 216 lbs. I'd go with the XL because you have a broad chest and probably an athletic build. The Large might be a hair restricting through the chest. Cheers.
