The 50 uses Ripstop 210 fabric and the 55 uses Ripstop 330. Also, the hipbelt and suspension on the 50 supports a max pack weight of 40 lbs whereas the 55 can support a max pack weight of 55 lbs. A heavier suspension is used on the 55 vs the 50 and the 55 uses heavier more durable material and fabric.
