No softshell is completely waterproof and the Apex is no exception. Water will get through and the garment and it will be very heavy once water logged. Waterproofness could be rated as 3.8 out of 5 stars and the breathability of this jacket could be rated as a 3 out of 5 stars. It would be lovely to have pitzips so one can better regulate their core temperature while going to the limit. Apex is a very nice bargain buy for the technology you're getting, but as per usual, better things are out there. (clears throat and coughs; Mountain Hardwear Alchemy)
